“My teaching philosophy aligns with much of my own artistic practice - I believe that learning should be a fun, playful, and highly personal experience. My primary goal as a teacher is to inspire my students to be curious and open-minded about music. Our lessons act as a laboratory - a space in which I encourage my students to experiment, take risks, and develop their own creative voice.
Along with that adventurous spirit, I emphasize the importance of establishing and refining a foundation of fundamental techniques.
Not every student shares the same goals or background, and I strive to meet my students where they are. I am their advocate in whatever they would like to accomplish during our time together.”
- Colin
“Colin is an outstanding trumpet player, composer, and arranger whose work consistently elevates any ensemble. As an educator, he brought real excitement to my classroom, engaging students in composition in a way that was both accessible and inspiring.”
– Joseph D’Alessio, Director of Music at Loyola School
